2005 Annual InterHab Conference a Success!
Thanks to all who supported this year’s conference in Overland Park. With over 300 people attending over the course of three days, it was a great success.
One highlight of the event was musical group measureXmeasure who kicked off the conference with their a capella performance followed by the Shawnee Mission South Heritage Singers accompanying a DD-related music video. Tom Pomeranz delivered a day of training on Positive Behavior Supports, many learned from national fundraising consultant Bill Sturtevant and JCDS staff member Charlie Skillman hosted a very popular session on Assistive Technology.
Our trade show was very well attended and featured a favorite – Jack’s Stack Barbecue – that was a huge hit! Thursday evening’s InterHab Bucks had attendees heading out on the town in Overland Park for dinner and then many returned to the Convention Center for an evening of gambling, karaoke and great prizes. (We promise, next time we’ll have more casino tables!)
Friday’s closing session included our annual awards ceremony which honored our award-winning artists, consumers, staff and volunteers. Jan Bolin, Executive Director of CLASS, Ltd., was surprised when she received the newly-named Mark Elmore Award for Distinguished Leadership.
